How To Clean Vomit From Carpet

Maybe it’s not the best topic to write about, but we all know that there are things that we have to do even if they are disgusting or horrible. People and animals vomit, and we can not change it. Actually it is one of the best defense systems a body has. So, what can we do if it is already just in front of you?

 

Knowledge of how to clean vomit can make you fell more confident in these kind of situations. In fact, it mustn’t be so difficult to clean it up. You just need to act fast and know what to do.

 

At the beginning you have to take care of cleanliness of your hands. Put on a pair of latex gloves what will give you some kind of self-confidence while cleaning the mess.

Remove bigger particles of vomit using spoon and dust pan. Next step will be trying to get rid of the moisture. To do this you can use towels (paper towels are good, too). Simply put it over the affected area and blot. Try not to spread the vomit further. When it is done, spray the area with water and use a clean rag to work out the remaining vomit. At this moment area should be much cleaner if not completely clean.

 

But it is not the end. You have to eliminate the odor. There are two ways: the best if you have an enzyme based cleaner. Then simply follow the instructions on the package. But if you don’t have it, you can use vinegar. Yes, it’s not joke. Despite of its bad smell, it is proven that vinegar eliminates odor perfectly. The “vinegar smell” will disappear in just a few minutes!

So, spread the enzyme based cleaner or vinegar around and then blot with towel. If necessary, repeat this a few times.

 

At this point your carpet should be clean. However it is wet for sure, so put some dry towels on it and let it dry. It can take about 30 minutes. At the end you can vacuum the carpet to make it look better. And that is all! As you see, it’s not as diffucult as it might be.

 

There are some cases in which steps written above won’t work well. In those kind of situations it will be necessary to apply special methods and call proffesionals. But in fact, this happens really very rarely.
